Dear Neighbors

   Dear Neighbors

Winter/Spring 2026

Because of the cold, not much has been happening in the neighborhood this winter; but the PHIA board has been preparing a few activities for the Spring.

This year again, the PHIA, along with any neighbors wishing to take part, will celebrate Earth Day by picking up trash on our streets. Living in unincorporated Lake County, we don’t have street sweeper services for our subdivision, so we need to do what we can to keep our streets free of trash. Please join us in the Park on Saturday, April 25th at 10:00 a.m. to help keep our subdivision clean. If you can’t join us on that day, take a little time this Spring to clean up whatever trash might be in the street in front of your house. Every little bit helps.

Also, again this year, the PHIA will organize the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Last year’s participation was great! Let’s see if we can surpass it this year. The Easter Egg Hunt will take place on March 28th at 1:00 p.m. In case of rain, it will be held on April 4th at the same time. Instead of distribution of flyers, signs will be posted.

With a date to be determined sometime in May, we will have a Beach Clean-up Day with the addition of a BBQ! Last year there was a great turnout of adults, teens and kids. We hope more neighbors will join in the laughs, fun, a self-paced physical work out, followed by food and fellowship.

There is also another opportunity to volunteer. If you are interested in preserving natural spaces in our local area, such as Grant Woods or Nippersink Creek, you can join others in helping restore the environment, while gaining a behind the scenes looks look at our forest preserves. Together, we’ll remove invasive plants which helps native species thrive. For more information about forest preserve opportunities, visit the Lake County Forest Preserves site at https://www.lcfpd.org/?F and look under “Restoration Opportunities.” If you’re interested in invasive buckthorn removal from private properties, please contact Susan Pribyl at susan.pribyl@gmail.com.

And again, some reminders:

There is to be no parking on any street in the subdivision. This is a great safety problem, especially because we do not have sidewalks, and it’s difficult to see around a parked car in the street. You can receive a fine for parking in the street. By order of the County, no one is permitted to have a rooster, in our Subdivision. For more details you may review the County Website: https://www.lakecountyil.gov/DocumentCenter/View/2691/Keepng-Chickens-PDF

Don’t leave your trash or garbage behind. This is especially evident in the Park, on and around the picnic tables, and in empty lots. There is no cleaning service for this. We all have to pitch in and do this. Kindly be respectful of all the property in our Subdivision. Keep your property in accordance with Lake County ordinances, grass and weeds cannot exceed 10 inches.

If you note a public nuisance, call Lake County. The Lake County Public Nuisance phone number is: 847-377-8444. For more detailed information you can access: www.pleasanthill-ia.com

To continue improving our subdivision, consider joining the PHIA as a dues paying member and/or offer your voluntary service to maintain, clean and improve Pleasant Hill Subdivision, the great neighborhood in which we live.

Here’s to a great 2026,

The PHIA Board
